The 4 Different Warranties That Come With Your New Subaru Vehicle

September 13th, 2019 by

When you purchase a new Subaru, you’re getting one of the most dependable vehicles on the road — and Subaru has five consecutive Most Trusted Brand awards from Kelley Blue Book to prove it! Subaru even stands behind their quality and craftsmanship with a new car warranty that comes with every vehicle. But with so many different areas of the car covered by different warranties, it can be a little confusing. Plus, Subaru offers an extended warranty you can add to your purchase for even greater peace of mind! Find out more below where we’ll go over the various warranty coverages offered by Subaru.

4. Factory Powertrain Warranty

With your factory Subaru warranty, the essentials of your vehicle’s powertrain are protected even longer than the rest of your vehicle. The terms of the powertrain warranty are 5 years/60,000 miles. For that period, Subaru will cover any failures of the engine, transmission and associated parts like the cooling system, belts, seals, gaskets, bearings as well as the transmission control unit.

Should these parts fail because of a defect before 5 years or 60,000 miles have gone by (whichever comes first), Subaru will cover any necessary repairs at no cost to you — just visit your local Subaru dealerships service department. Only an authorized Subaru service center like ours at Olympia Subaru may carry out warranty repairs on your vehicle.

3. Factory Limited Warranty

Your car’s limited warranty is limited (get it?) to everything not covered by the powertrain warranty. Everything else on your car, from the body panels to the electronics to the interior, is covered by the limited warranty for a period of 3 years/36,000 miles. Plus, important wear items like brake pads, clutch linings and wiper blades are also covered for 3 years/36,000 miles.

2. Available Extended Warranty

If you’re looking at a new Subaru for your family to, as the saying goes, “drive into the ground,” you might benefit from an extended warranty for added security. For a little bit extra, you can protect your vehicle for up to 10 years or 120,000 miles. Our Classic extended warranty plan covers the major powertrain components, or you can get even more peace of mind from our Gold Plus plan which further covers the electronics, air conditioning, steering and front suspension. That’s a decade of cost-free repairs! Perhaps that’s why Subaru vehicles had the lowest 5-year cost to own according to Kelley Blue Book.

1. Miscellaneous Warranties: Rust, Tires, Seat Belts & More

Rust isn’t an unheard of problem for cars living their lives in the Olympia area, so it’s important to know what rust coverage is provided by Subaru. For 5 years regardless of mileage, Subaru will replace any body panels that develop holes from rust. In most circumstances, this simply isn’t a problem, but Subaru has your back just in case.

Since the seatbelts are such a critical component of your car when it comes to your safety, they’re actually covered for the whole useful life of the car! The belt, its tensioning mechanism and buckle will be replaced at no cost to you if they become damaged to the point of failure.

When you purchase a new car at Olympia Subaru, the tires may also be covered by a warranty from the tire manufacturer. But, when you visit the Olympia Subaru service center for a new set, we’ll provide 24 months of free warranty coverage. We’ll repair or replace a tire that becomes damaged during that period.
